Midwinter of the Spirit

Latest productions include Midwinter of the Spirit a three-part series for ITV Encore.  Double BAFTA award-winning actress Anna Maxwell-Martin (The Bletchley Circle) will play Merrily Watkins, a single mother who isn’t your average country vicar. Merrily’s newly acquired training has put her on the dark side of the pulpit. She’s become one of the few women priests working as an exorcist – a job increasingly mistrusted by the modern Church and rarely talked about, even though it operates in virtually every diocese in the UK.

Joining Anna will be BAFTA winning actor David Threlfall (Code of a Killer, Tommy Cooper; Not Like That, Like This). David will take on the role of Rev Huw Owen, a deliverance ministry tutor and Merrily’s mentor.

The three part series will also feature Siobhan Finneran (Happy Valley, Downton Abbey, Benidorm), Ben Bailey Smith (The Four O’Clock Club, Law and Order: UK), Leila Mimmack (Home Fires, Becoming Human), Kate Dickie (Game of Thrones, The Frankenstein Chronicles), Simon Trinder (Dalziel and Pascoe, Without You), Oengus MacNamara (Game of Thrones, What If) and David Sterne (Tommy Cooper; Not Like That, Like This).

Based on the books written by successful novelist, Phil Rickman, ITV has commissioned this three-part drama for ITV Encore. Midwinter of the Spirit will be adapted by BAFTA winning screenwriter Stephen Volk (Afterlife, The Awakening, Ghostwatch) for ITV Studios, featuring Merrily Watkins as the central character.
Lemon Casting’s Alpha Bravo Department provided the police and uniformed professionals some of which were featured.

Don’t Miss ‘In The Club’ new BBC drama about expectant mums

Lemon Casting provided police with full uniform for this new BBC Drama.

Antenatal classes are the perfect breeding ground for budding friendships. But, as the stars of new BBC drama In The Club reveal labour and sleep patterns aren’t expectant mums’ only concerns.

To say the BBC’s latest drama In The Club is a family affair is an understatement. Written by Fat Friends creator Kay Mellor, produced by her daughter Yvonne Francas, and with younger daughter, Emmerdale actress Gaynor Faye, working as a script editor, it’s a true family project.

ITV ‘rests’ Law & Order: UK in wake of Bradley Walsh departure

The Killing Times

125595.281x308News reports circulating from ITV this afternoon reveal that not only has the channel decided to ‘rest’ Law & Order: UK, but Bradley Walsh has left the series altogether. While the news is initially a surprise it’s not THAT much of a surprise to me when you look at the declining quality of the storylines. One thing that has stayed constant, though, has been Walsh’s portrayal of DCI Ronnie Brooks, the UK’s version of Columbo.

ITV puts Law & Order: UK on hold

After eight seasons, Law & Order: UK is taking a break for “the forseeable future”.

ITV is resting the series as ever-present lead actor Bradley Walsh announced he would be leaving the show.

The most recent season starred Walsh with Ben Bailey Smith, Peter Davison, Georgia Taylor and Dominic Rowan as the team of detectives and prosecutors pursuing justice in London.

Based on the long-running US format created by Dick Wolf, the UK version first aired in 2009.
It is produced by Kudos Film and Television, Wolf Films and NBCUniversal, with executive producers Jane Featherstone, Alison Jackson, Wolf and Jane Dauncey.
